Environmental Initiatives (2025–26) Earth Day Week At Queen’s Carmel School, Earth Day 2025 blossomed into a week-long celebration of environmental awareness and action. From 21st to 25th April, students across all grades participated with great enthusiasm in Earth Week 2025, embracing their roles as responsible stewards of the environment. The week unfolded with a diverse range of eco-conscious activities designed to instill a deep respect for nature and promote sustainable practices among young learners. The tree plantation drive stood as a powerful symbol of growth and responsibility, with students planting saplings and learning about the long-term impact of greenery on our planet’s health. Adding depth to the celebration, thought-provoking skits highlighted critical environmental issues, including pollution, deforestation, and climate change. Students also took part in slogan writing and poem recitations, expressing their environmental concerns and hopes through creative and compelling language. Green Neighborhood Drive – “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” Free Plant Donation As part of its eco-conscious mission and in alignment with the CBSE initiative on environmental sustainability, Queen’s Carmel School organised a free sapling distribution drive to actively promote green practices within the community. Saplings were distributed to students, parents, and local residents with the encouragement to plant and nurture them in neighborhoods and nearby public spaces. This initiative not only raised awareness about the importance of afforestation and ecological balance but also inspired collective responsibility towards environmental conservation, contributing meaningfully to the creation of a greener and healthier ecosystem. Waste Management Program Under the Eco Club initiative, our school successfully conducted a Waste Management Practice Program for students of Grades I to IX to promote cleanliness, environmental awareness, and sustainable habits. The program was organized after the successful completion of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” activity and focused mainly on waste segregation and composting practices. The program was conducted throughout the week according to a structured schedule: Grades I and II on Monday, III A and III B on Tuesday, IV and V on Wednesday, VI and VII on Thursday, and VIII and IX on Friday. Students were guided to dispose of organic waste such as fruit peels and leftover food into designated dustbins placed across the campus. Teachers explained the importance of segregating biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste and demonstrated how organic waste can be reused for plant growth through composting. Students participated actively and showed great enthusiasm in following the procedures. The program helped students develop responsible habits, understand the value of recycling, and realize their role in protecting the environment. The initiative was a meaningful step towards building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable school campus. World Environment Day – Observance & Awareness Initiatives Queen’s Carmel School observed World Environment Day with a series of thoughtfully planned activities aimed at fostering respect for nature and promoting sustainable living. Students participated in plantation drives, eco-themed assemblies, poster making, and reflective classroom discussions that highlighted the importance of environmental conservation. An awareness rally was also organised, during which students carried self-designed posters and raised impactful slogans, spreading messages of environmental responsibility within and beyond the school campus. These initiatives sensitized students to ecological concerns and encouraged collective action towards building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future.
